Looks like my post didn't take -- I waited and am trying again. Hope it isn't a double post and hope I haven’t messed up this post like I did my last one, but here goes anyway…..
Sue in Philly, and Robin: Thanks for your understanding. I really felt like a brain-melted idiot with my last post, but Sue in Philly, I’m glad my Claymelted brain resulted in a tip for you! You made me feel soooo much better..(tee, hee.)
Susanne: right on, gurrl! I’ve been thinking all day about the Beatles connections, which your ex picked up on, too. I personally hear it in “Run to Me, especially.”
And Mare, thanks for your support. Brain-meltedness loves company. Loved to read your declaration of love for Clay and what he stands for. At least brain melt doesn’t change that! (tee hee#2!)
Mary, Thank you for the Mama Class quote – so fine!
KarenWelcome back! Glad you’ve had a great time, and more awaits you and all of us this week.
Robin, I laughed my head off at you forgetting you have a family! Me, too! Leftovers for dinner today (thank goodness my household helper came today). I spent the day driving around (shuttling daughter, going to doctor, etc.), conveniently playing the CD non-stop in the car. Also trying to get some sleep, but could NOT!
Last night, at our CD release party, I talked with a number of women about the same “problem”. Imagine, hundreds of thousands of women across the country (and the world), with undone dishes in sinks, laundry in piles, TV dinners in microwaves…
Think of us all --- TVs, looking, looking, looking; VCRs recording, recording, recording; computers downloading, downloading, downloading, CDs playing, playing, playing. Now, that’s what I call “automation”! That’s what I call ”productivity”!
ESL Liz in NC I don’t remember, either, who it was who said “The Big Voice of Clay is not really present on the CD”, but I’d like to talk about that. First I want to say I am blown away by the CD and there’s no disputing that. However, the songs on it seem to use the higher range of his voice almost exclusively, and not those lower sounds from deep-in-the-chest, those deep sounds that I adore. (Actually, a week or so ago, Karen Nyere brought up the point about the higher range, and the possibility of him straining his voice, which worries me also.)
Well, after playing the CD during his commute today, hubby came home and expressed the same thing. His opinion – he likes the CD. He thinks it is very professional. However, he feels it does not showcase Clay’s unique voice (hubby’s words) that we loved so much in the AI performances He misses that voice. “Clay’s unique voice.” Those are the words I had been searching for.
Yes, Clay has a UNIQUE voice, which, in it’s uniqueness, is HEAVEN. Too bad it is missing here. I love the album anyway. I also look forward to the day when Clay can express himself more freely, the day he will be free to give his voice to us in all its heavenly variety and range. That day will come, as will the day he will write his own songs. It’s just a matter of time. (Suzie, just as I finished writing this, I see you’ve just posted, saying you miss the Big Voice, too!
Well, that’s it for tonight. I know this is too long. Just can’t help myself! Going to bed to dream of Clayton and to get some much needed sleep! Don’t forget to set your VCR’s for Good Morning America tomorrow!
from CA Elizabeth still spent but happy
