Wanted to post earlier. Couldn’t. Suffering sensory overload. Seeing Clay ... Hearing Clay ... Feeling ClayLove. So enveloped by sensational Clay, brain has ceased to function. Just when I think I cannot experience any deeper emotion, Clay grabs the mic, hops on one foot and sends my brain spiraling into mass confusion. The sheer joy of him jumped out of the screen and infected all of us!! KC Party was an unqualified success. Despite severe storms that had me freaking out for Lifesize Clay's safety, we had a smash hit!! About 45 or so fans attended the pre-party at American Bandstand where we had lots of big screen video of Clay on AI and in concert. Local soft rock station sent DJs, who participated in our Shirt Tug and Panty Toss contests. SHOUT OUT TO JILL!! Lifesize Memphis Clay was perfect for the panty toss!! He was mobbed afterward by rabid fans wanting a picture with him... Remind me again what assumptions make outta me. To my jaw-dropping amazement, I did in fact meet some LB lurkers who come here every day and love it! [HEY LADIES, come out and say hi!] And two other women asked me how to find LBFCA, they’d heard so much about us. Party moved to Barnes & Noble, where we soon had about 150 fans gather. It was really fun to see several male faces, all ages and best of all, the energetic enthusiasm. We played more games – Kiss the Clay, Trivia, Concert Sign-making, Song Lyrics and of course, Picture Yourself with Clay. Gifts, prizes, raffles – a good time from start to finish. Watching Clay’s spectacular performance on Leno with such a joyous crowd was truly uplifting. All agreed it was the most amazing, sexy, FUN performance of his to date. He just glowed with happiness. I swear, I’ve never wished ill on anyone as much as I was that Bird Lady!! But once Clay appeared, Bird Lady was forgotten. The store personnel were a bit stunned by all the fan enthusiasm. At one point, the store manager laughed, saying, “This is unbelieveable. Clay’s not even here!” By B&N we also had KUDL’s program director and another DJ, who periodically patched live calls to the station, broadcasting what we were doing and getting our screams and excitement on air. We also recorded several group and individual messages for the station. One of the DJs said she’d never seen anything like this in her entire broadcast career. They seemed to not only come to appreciate Clay, but also his diverse and excitable fans!! They’ve been commenting on the party all day today and just called themselves CLAY-UDL. Yay!! KC did not get a call from Clay, but we still had a fantabulous time. I can get what some of you were saying about the spirit. Having discovered that this LB was born without the embarrassment gate, the Party Coordinator asked me to get energy and spirit up. So after sitting through several video cuts with calm, if appreciative, audience reactions, I grabbed another committee member and told her to scream with me. Solitaire came up and we screamed our heads off. [SHOUT OUT to PATSY – You rock, Woman! You’re a BROAD!!] And the beauty is, once everyone else realized they could scream and be silly and it was OKAY, they joined in. From then on, it only took a nudge or two to get ‘em whipped up. Really, just get a Broad in the house and the party starts hoppin’. Now playing hookey from work and trying to push brain back to function mode. Trouble is, all I wanna do is Clay...... First, Susan, wanted you to know my prayers are with you. Nelle, I am so freakin proud of you (and jealous). BEVRs better be coming! Nashville release party was a delight! We had around 30, including some guys! Susan who organized it had goodie bags including MoaM fridge magnets & the most adorable lip bite pic keychain! We had a life size stuffed Clay complete with UT jersey from the Memphis show & had a panty toss contest--nearest to Clay won. Met Barb (waving to Barb) & loads of other wonderful fans, many of whom belong right here with us (and I invited em too--waving to any Nashvillians lurking) but Diana, I missed you somehow! Waaah! Watched Leno on big screen with flawless reception. We Broads did our best to maintain an acceptable level of lechery--I must confess when I yelled 'optical fornication' at an appropriate moment it pretty much brought the house down. Didn't he look like he was having the time of his life behind that mike? My heart just soared to see him so happy & at ease. Other parts of me did other things at the sight of those moves!! We did the scrapbook page thingie too, BTW. Mom & I lost our joint virginity in the car on the way home--I went out last wk & bought a converter for my portable CD player. Heard the 1st 5 trax then, the rest this AM on the way to work, listened to it again on the computer in my out of work sick boss' office, then got lunch at Sonic just so I could sit in the car & listen some more. Waiting was so worth it!!!! I am mightily impressed with this album. Not just Clay's voice which can't be improved on, but the production, arrangements etc. It seems around every turn is some unexpected chord progression, note interval, change in dynamics or key, that holds your attention fast. Definitely the best recording I've heard in years, & I believe to my soul I would say that if I had never heard the name or voice of Clay Aiken before today. Misc notes--Delu, I loved your image of Sl***n! Lisa, I didn't know where Fred Bronson was based, so when I emailed him thanks for his interview I invited him to our party in Nashville! Glad to hear he got to one. Rainjane, Anomaly was awesome. Thanx for your kind words to us Christian Broads, & for sharing your insight. I think it's good for one to get their preconceptions turned on their ears occasionally! Hey, I found redheaded guys singularly unattractive 6 mos ago! (You are not a whiny self-centered pitypot in my book, either.) Re my fanfic--Brenda, thanx, glad you enjoyed Dead Air. To be honest, I had some concerns last wk after PTL--DA was written last July when I had no clue Clay had survived a family suicide, yet I wrote that very thing in as an integral part of Chad's background. I worried about whether I should continue with this story series, because the 3rd story will deal primarily with that theme. I've asked several folks who see no problem, but do those of you who have read it think people might take offense, or think I was trying to exploit Clay's pain to pimp my own writing? (I hope not. Sue in Philly, somebody may think they've swiped my Chad, but they ain't seen nothin' yet...neither have yall.) Carol in FL, OMG. Your story was great. How did you manage to be so explicit, yet bring me near tears several times? I applaud you. 'S***n's so deep in the closet he'll need a map to get out'? Excellent! I didn't have any idea what the tape was for until after I had begun babbling like a moron, and I'm sure I was quite attractive under that bright spot (isn't there nothing more flattering to a woman than a spotlight and a camera lens about 12 inches from her face? I can think of a lot of things I'd rather have 12 inches from my...uh...but I digress...), so pleez pleez PLEEZ ignore the whole thing. I'll be far more attractive when we're face to face, and you can just fall in love with me then. ;o) (seriously, people, when you want to make a video for someone with people at a party saying hello to them, WARN YOUR VICTIMS AHEAD OF TIME! At least at my sister's wedding, the camera dude went around to each table and let us know he was going to be working the room later for that purpose, so we could think of something to say! I was on film for at least ten seconds before I had any idea what was going on...NOT the way to do that.
